Week 3 Life, the Bedouin Way
Wadi Rum the desert
of mountains, our first night in Jordan started off with the camp experiences
in the desert. We had a Jeep tour
exploring Wadi Rum, is was absolutely beautiful, the terracotta sand and the
cascading mountains. There were tents with beds set up for us to sleep but it
was too hot. After the dinner cooked in
a pit, some opted to sleep under the stars, I have never seen so many starts.
The next day were
off to Petra, we visited The Treasury which was built by the Nabataeans, we
used the main trail Bab Alsiq we past by the Obelisk Tomb and other 1st
century carvings. Going through the Siq; a narrow gorge, with plenty of water
channels, give me the perspective of God’s magnitude and my insignificance.
Finally the Dana
Reserve Guesthouse was the first stop,it is located on the edge of a cliff, there
was a spectacular view of the reserve from the private terrace and the floor to
ceiling glass window in the shower, breath taking. The next day we started on our five hour hike
through the valley to the Feynan Eco-lodge. That night the lodge was lite with
candles, and we got an entertaining lesson from our Bedouin host, Sleiman about how the Bedouin use the stars.
